The Intenso S10000 is a solid power bank with slight flaws in its workmanship. A positive aspect is the portion of usable capacity. This power bank has only one USB output, but together with the integrated micro-USB cable, two devices can be charged simultaneously. All in all, this product convinced us in our tests.

Particular feature

The Intenso S10000 has an integrated micro-USB cable for charging devices with micro-USB inputs. The Intenso S10000 is very flat, but somewhat wide. It fits well into your trouser pocket and can just be held comfortably in your hand. The workmanship looks good.

The workmanship looks solid, but the transitions between the individual case parts can be clearly felt. The integrated micro-USB cable blends discreetly into the power bank and can be unfolded as needed.

The power bank has a USB output (2.1 A) and an integrated Micro-USB output (2.1 A). A micro-USB input (2.1 A) is provided for charging.

Since power banks never have all their full capacity available, I measured the usable capacity of the Intenso S10000 by discharging it via a resistor and recording the power. For this test I have set a current of 2 A. The measured capacity is about 8.710 mAh. This corresponds to 87 percent of the stated capacity of the manufacturer.

The power output is almost constant during the entire discharge and only decreases minimally in the last 30 minutes.

To measure the charging time, I connected the power bank to a power supply that can deliver the maximum charging current of 2 A. The power bank is connected to a power supply that can supply the maximum charging current of 2 A. The power bank is connected to the power supply of the Powerbank. I measured a charging time of about 6:34 hours. The charging current is about 1.6 A.

Heat development

Both during charging and discharging I noticed clear warming of the Powerbank with our thermal imaging camera. The higher temperature is reached during discharging and amounts to approx. 49 °C. I measured a temperature of 41.5 °C during charging.

Short-circuit behaviour and overload protection

A short circuit can damage the Powerbank and in the worst case lead to a fire. Such a short-circuit can be caused by a defective cable, for example. In order to investigate the behavior of the Powerbank in such a case, I intentionally short-circuited it. The Intenso S10000 switches off immediately and is still functional after the short circuit.

I also investigated the behavior of the Intenso S10000 in case of an overload. First, I increased the power consumption of a connected consumer until the Powerbank switches off.

  • The USB output, which is designed for 2.1 A, switches off at 2.6 A. The power consumption of a connected consumer is increased until the power bank switches off. The supply voltage is still 4.7 V.

Drop test

Falling down is no problem for the Intenso S10000. I dropped the power bank in our office from a height of one meter onto the hard carpet. No external damage was visible afterwards and the power bank still worked perfectly.

We have evaluated about 1,000 reviews on the Internet. In summary, it can be said that around 80 percent of buyers are satisfied (4 stars) or even very satisfied (5 stars). Partially (2 stars) or completely dissatisfied are approximately 15 percent of the users. The average score at the time of the evaluation was 4.2 out of 5 stars.
