Resumee

Generally, the Epson LabelWorks LW-300 is good. However, the display is too small and the label cannot be previewed. The keyboard is convincing again. The many designs and three tape sizes are other big advantages.

Pro

  • 2 tape cassettes enclosed
  • Power supply unit supplied
  • Little protrusion
  • Many fonts and designs

Cons

  • Slowly
  • Instructions incomplete
  • Cumbersome umlaut input
Many designs and design possibilities, but slowly and with cutbacks in the display.

Special features

The Epson LabelWorks LW-300 can be used both on the table and mobile. It is supplied with two tape cassettes and convinces with its many fonts.

Appearance

The Label- Works LW- 300 convinces with its QWERTZ keyboard and the large rubber buttons so that operation is easy and fast. On the table, the device finds a safe stand by the two rubber feet on the back.

Print result

The marking speed is 5 mm per second. This makes the Epson marker one of the slowest devices on the market. The tape widths are 6 mm, 9 mm or 12 mm. Different colours are also available. Fortunately, the original tapes are relatively inexpensive.
The labelling device is characterized by an excellent print quality. You can choose between fourteen fonts, which are also available in different styles such as bold, italic, vertical, with drop shadows or mirrored. Also, 87 frame designs and a total of 450 special characters and symbols are available. This puts the device in the top class. Even a mail merge is easily adjustable in the menu.

A special key must be used for the umlauts. This takes a lot of getting used to.
The display is large but does not show the font or style. So the result can only be viewed through the printout. Also because of the slow printing, it is relatively cumbersome to design your perfect label.

Accessories for use

The marking device is operated with six AAA batteries. But a power cable can also be connected. It is even pleasantly long. So the device can be used immediately through the power cord.
There are thirty storage locations for finished labels. Even without batteries, the memory space is still available after a long time. The menu is available in German and other languages. The menu navigation is logically structured and therefore simple. The disadvantage is that it is only displayed in one line, making it relatively tedious to operate. The manual is also included in German but is not complete. Among other things, the memory function is not explained. Also, the unwieldy size and unstructured description attract negative attention.
Epson does not provide an additional warranty.
