The Bose - QuietComfort 35 II convince with their three-stage noise reduction, dual-microphone system and voice command access, so you always have your assistant with you. The first negative thing we noticed was the very short charging cable of only 30 cm. In addition, the Bluetooth connection only reaches the next room and the voice quality is poor.
The Bose - QuietComfort 35 II are delivered in an elegant and attractive packaging. The travel case, which contains the headphones, is dark blue and covered with an extra layer of foam. The travel case also contains a 30 cm charging cable and a 1.13 m connecting cable.
The earcups are fitted to the ears and cover them completely. On the left earpiece, you can adjust the three-stage noise reduction via a button. This ranges from very loud to quiet to completely switched off. Furthermore, the insertion hole for the connection cable to the smartphone is located underneath the shell.
The volume can be adjusted via a button on the right earpiece. In addition, a small indicator light tells you whether the battery needs to be charged soon. The charging cable can also be inserted underneath the shell. To switch on the headphones, the ON/OFF switch is located in the upper area.
The shells are padded and covered with fabric on the inside. An "R" for the right and an "L" for the left are embroidered into the fabric. The bridge connecting the two earcups and holding the headphones on the head is padded and covered with a soft fabric. In order to store the headphones in the travel case again, it is possible to turn and fold the shells.
Included in the delivery:
- Travel case
- Connecting cable
- Charging cable
- Instruction manual
In order to use the Bose headphones, you must first download the Bose Connect app. This will then guide you through all the steps, show you how best to use the headphones, and connect you to your assistant, who will then assist you.
To turn on the headphones, slide the ON/OFF switch on the right earpiece toward the Bluetooth sign until a green light appears. The headphones will tell you the percentage of battery life left. One advantage of the headphones is that they are already charged and ready to use when delivered. A small green light on the right indicates whether the battery level is still within the green range. The battery life is about 40 hours with the connection cable to the smartphone and about 20 hours without the connection cable. The cable connection has a very good length of 1.13 meters. Unfortunately, the corresponding charging cable is only 30 cm long.
The noise-cancelling without music is okay. You still hear environmental noises, but only if they are in the immediate proximity and then only hollow. If you now switch on the music, you are literally cut off from the environment. There are no environmental noises reaching your ears and the sound of the music is also good. For some experts, the sound might be a little dull. We have tested the noise-cancelling with high and low frequencies. It turned out that high frequencies are virtually unaffected by noise reduction. In contrast, low frequencies barely reach your ears.
A negative aspect is the poor voice quality of calls. In addition, the caller's and your smartphone will have a very strong echo, so you won't be able to understand the person on the other end of the line. The situation is different from the connection cable. If you connect the headphones to the smartphone, the call is also announced here and you can make calls via the headphones. But not everything works properly. You and the caller hear each other twice, making it impossible to understand the other person. After a while, you can't hear each other anymore and the connection breaks completely.
Also, Bluetooth stability is not very good. If there is a barrier between the smartphone and headphones, the connection is interrupted after 20 meters. So you can only go to the next room at home without carrying your smartphone. However, if your path is clear, there will be no interruptions.
