Appearance and equipment

I have tested the Skullcandy Push True Wireless Headphones in the colour "deep red". The In-Ear headphones are well made and make a solid impression. They are "true wireless", which means that they work completely without any cable.

They are included in the delivery:

  • In-Ear headphones and charging box
  • Hybrid silicone rubber ear pads, one pair each in sizes S, M and L
  • USB-C charging cable
  • Quick guide
  • Operating instructions and warranty card

Operating the headphones

The charging box and the headphones are already pre-charged, so you can start right away. To connect the headphones to your phone, for example, take them out of the charger box and look for "Push" in your phone's Bluetooth settings.

You'll notice that the Earbuds' LED's on the Earbuds are in pairing mode, as they alternately flash red and blue. Once you have connected to the earphones, they will automatically connect to your device in the future when you remove them from the charger box.

Skullcandy Push

Now insert the headphones and turn them up so that they are almost vertical in your ears and the stabilizer fin is attached to your auricle. Then turn them back a little bit. This gives the Push headphones a more secure fit. There is a round button on both headphones.

These are assigned with several short commands: Pressing once on one of the two Earbuds has the function Pause/Play, holding for 3 seconds rewinds a song forward (right) or backward (left) and a double click increases the volume (right) or decreases it (left). There are a total of 7 gestures to control the headphones, which can be read in the Quick Start Guide and the User Manual.

It is also possible to use only one headphone alone, but this is only possible with the left one.

The Skullcandy Push headphones do not have a corresponding app.

Wearing comfort

earplugs Skullcandy Push

The headphones sit well in the ear. The different earpads supplied with the headphones ensure that the right size is available for each ear. As long as you screw the headphones into your ear as described, they should also fit firmly. If they are too loose and slip out, try another attachment. The only disadvantage is that the stabilizer fin is firmly attached to the headphones and cannot be replaced in different sizes. So it may not be the optimal size for your ear.

Sound

Skullcandy Push

The Skullcandy Push headphones have a good sound at low and medium volume. The sound is clear, treble and midrange are balanced and the bass is pleasing. At high volumes, however, there is a slight rattling noise at some high and mid-range frequencies, which makes listening tiring and severely affects the music experience. The sound is additionally impaired by the fact that the volume of the right earbuds always seems to be a bit louder than the left earbuds. Also, the so-called 360°-8D audio sounds can be played, but they seem rather weak compared to other headphones and there is sometimes a background noise.

Bluetooth

The Bluetooth stability is rather mediocre. A distance of 10 meters and 4 lightweight walls as a barrier doesn't withstand the connection without dropouts. Sometimes the connection breaks down completely. As soon as you get back into the Bluetooth range, the two Earbuds connect automatically and the music starts playing again.

Telephony

A short press on one of the headphones allows you to accept an incoming call or to reject it by pressing and holding the button for more than 2 seconds. The caller can be easily understood through the Push headphones. However, the person you are talking to will appear dull and "tinny". Sometimes even dropouts occur. A conversation without interference cannot be conducted in this way. It should also be noted that the sound is only played back over the left headphones when making a call.

Transport box

The transport box also serves as a charging station. The headphones are inserted into the notches, where they are assigned to the left and right and are held securely in the box by a magnet. The lid of the box closes by snapping in and can be opened again at the push of a button.

Ladecase Skullcandy Push

The charging box provides the headphones with up to 6 hours more battery life. This corresponds to simple charging of the headphones. On the outside of the box, there is an LED display which shows the battery status of the box.

A micro-USB cable is included in the scope of delivery, with which the box can be recharged. This has a length of 58 cm. An adapter for the cable is not included.
