The Samsung Galaxy Buds have a simple, modern design and are of high-quality workmanship. They have a lot of functions and can be adapted very individually to the user in handling and usage, but only if you use an Android phone. Unfortunately, this does not work with iOS devices. The Bluetooth connection and battery life are very good. The fit in the ear is also good.
Appearance and equipment
The Samsung Galaxy Buds are delivered in very high-quality and attractive packaging.
The in-ear headphones we tested are black. But they are also available in other colours such as white or yellow. Their shape is ergonomically adapted to the ear cup. They are well manufactured and have a high-quality, simple design.
A charging case - also in black - is included, in which the headphones can be charged on the move.
Included in the scope of delivery are:
- Charging cable
- Loading case
In this test, the Samsung Buds were tested with an iPhone, which means that unfortunately, the functions of the headphones are not as versatile as on an Android phone. In fact, there is no app for the iPhone and the Samsung Buds yet that allows you to customize the headphones.
The first time you use the Samsung Buds, you need to connect it to your mobile phone via Bluetooth. This process was quick and without any problems. The Galaxy Buds have an exemplary small case, which can also be easily stowed in your pocket. With this case, the Galaxy Buds can also be charged. When fully charged you can listen to music for up to 6 hours.
With the help of the touchpad on both headphones, you can control the music playback. When inserted, the touch-sensitive sensor automatically detects that you are wearing the earphones. The earphones then emit a sound to indicate that they have been detected. Besides playing music, you can also use the touchpad to accept or reject calls, or start a conversation with the intelligent voice assistant (only works with Android).
Music playback: Clicking the touchpad once briefly plays or pauses the song. Clicking the touchpad twice will play the next song. It can also be used to answer or end a call. If you tap three times, the previous song is played back. The app can be used to add further functions (like louder or quieter) and customize them. Unfortunately, this is not possible with the iPhone.
One advantage when playing music is that the headphones pause immediately when you take both headphones out of your ears. That's handy if you want to have a short conversation without any noise in the background. There is also an ambient noise mode (but not adjustable with iPhone).
To insert the headphones, place them in your ear and with a little pressure turn them into the auricle. Afterwards, they should fit tightly. If they don't, you can try out if some of the replacement rubbers in a different size fit better.
The fit of the headphones naturally depends on the ear of the person testing. The headphones fit perfectly during testing. Even when jerking or jogging, they hold, which is also due to their light weight.
The sound quality is very good. The music is clearly reproduced.
Many different functions of the headphones can be adjusted via the Samsung Galaxy app. With the iPhone, however, these functions were not available, which is a pity.
Bluetooth stability is good. After about 20 meters distance and 4 walls as a barrier, the connection slowly weakens. The sound jerks a little, but everything is still understandable.
Micro-/tele-function is very good. The caller can be understood fluently and clearly through the headphones. Even if the phone is not nearby, you can answer and end the call.
