Easy to use instant camera, but its photo quality is very poor and doesn't have a wide range of functions.

This Kodak Printomatic Instant Camera has the typical design of a retro camera, but can't outstand with the photo quality. The pictures usually have a purple stitch and are often blurred.
- 10 megapixels
- Two picture modes (color and black/white mode)
- Shoot more photos while printing
- Simple operation
- No operating instructions enclosed
- It takes about 5 seconds between taking a picture and printing it out.
- Poor photo quality
- No big difference between the two picture modes to be seen
- quality seems poorly
The Kodak Printomatic Camera comes in a small package, which has the most important features written on. The first impression of the camera is satisfying. It feels good in the hand, but is very light and doesn't look good in the workmanship. We ordered the camera in grey/white.
The delivery included:
- Power Cable
- Photo paper
Since no instruction manual was included in the package, it was quite difficult for the user to find out the exact functions of the camera. It was only with the help of tips and tricks on the Internet that the tester was able to find out about how to use the camera. To use the camera for the first time, you have to put the photo paper (in this case zinc photo paper in 2x3 inch format, 10 photos, Zero-Ink technology, which keeps photos in good condition even under heat, light or liquids, can also be used as a sticker) in the back of the camera.
As is the case with the other instant cameras tested, the blue photo paper always has to be put into the photo tray first. The first taken picture is always a test picture.
The camera has an image sensor of 10 MP and one lens has a focal length of 8 mm. In addition to printing the images immediately, it is also possible to save the images on an external memory card (mircoSD up to 32g). The access for the memory card is on the underside of the camera. The camera also has three display icons on the back: Pressure indicator, little battery and little paper. These light up red as soon as they are empty.
The camera advertises that it can print incredible pictures in seconds. Unfortunately, this statement in the test did not quite agree with our results. It takes about 5 seconds between taking the picture and printing it out and about 60 seconds until the whole process is finished. However, the quality of the pictures leaves a lot to be desired. For example, there is no difference between the picture modes. The black/white function is very similar to the colour mode and all pictures have a light purple stitch (see photo).
You cannot set the flash manually. It seems as if the flash can be switched on and off at will when shooting. In addition, the shutter release is also very sensitive and it has often happened that you accidentally took several pictures. Even if the camera looks very nice on the outside and corresponds to the retro instant camera style, one would wish for more in regard to the photo quality.
