Resumee

The Alpin Loacker - PRO Series Hiking Poles are easy to handle and practical to stow away, as the packing size is very small. The system is easy and quick to use once you've seen how it works, as there is no manual included. As you walk, the poles make no noise and don't clatter on harder ground, and the grip is also good. It is a pity that the poles can only be adjusted between 120 cm and 135 cm, as they are too long for smaller persons under approx. 165.

Pro

  • Very small packing size
  • Practical principle
  • Extended handle

Cons

  • Wobbles slightly when the stick is folded out
  • Instructions are not enclosed - the principle is not self-explanatory

360° View

Practical and small in pack size. However, a manual and some stability in the construction are missing.

Overview

The Alpin Loacker - PRO Series Hiking Poles are supplied in a bag with a drawstring, which can also be used as a transport bag. The accessories include:

  • Hiking poles
  • 2 different rubber buffers (shoes and round attachments)
  • 2 different plates (mud plate and snow plate)

The folded sticks can be fixed with two velcro strips. Instructions on how to use the sticks are not included.

Materials

The materials are of high quality and appear robust. The handle has a cork trim and is otherwise made of plastic. In addition, a hand strap is attached to the handle, which is equipped with a soft fabric on the inside to avoid friction. At the bottom, the handle is extended with foam, so that you can reach around in steeper areas and keep the pole shorter. The poles of the poles are made of carbon. At the bottom, there is a metal tip which can be covered by the different rubber buffers. With a thread, the plates can be fixed before.

Adjustment mechanism

The hiking poles are put together like a tent pole. Inside there is a band that holds the individual parts together. You string all the parts together and pull out the component with the company imprint completely until a small pin clicks into place. Then the poles are ready for use. The poles are adjusted telescopically. The clamps are released and the pole can be extended. A marking ensures that the pole is not pulled out too far. The poles can be adjusted continuously between 120 and 135cm and can, therefore, be used individually but still limited in size.

When the cane is extended, it is a bit wobbly in itself at the places where it is stuck together. Even slight pressure can cause a slight bow.

Folded, these sticks are the smallest in comparison and have a packing size of approximately 40 x 14 cm.

Practical test

In order to test the walking sticks in use, we walked over various surfaces, such as paved stone floor, asphalt, sandy paths, softer meadow soil and up and down hills.

The poles hardly make any noise and vibrations are hardly noticeable. You can walk well with the sticks and especially uphill you can support yourself well on the sticks and use them as a safe helper.

The material of the rubber buffers hardly slips on stones, only when the pole is set too diagonally. The material is soft and you can hardly hear it when the pole is put on.

Ergonomics

The handles are easy to grasp and the cork is pleasant to the hand. The material of the handle can hardly be pressed in and is very firm. A little pity that the length can only be changed between 120 and 135 cm. People who are smaller than approx. 165 cm cannot use the poles well.

The poles can be plugged together like a tent pole. Inside there is a band that holds the individual poles together. The piece on which the stamp is printed must be pulled out completely. Then a small pin clicks out and the stick is fixed.
