The rice cooker by Tristar is a solid rice cooker that delivers what it promises.

It has a nice design, a warming mode and is very easy to use. The only negative thing we noticed was that some rice grains stuck to the bottom of the pot and that the pot is very difficult to clean.

The price-performance ratio of this rice cooker is therefore only partially adequate.

  • Relatively low price
  • Tasty result
  • Easy to use
  • Elegant design

  • Keep warm mode for one hour only
  • Max. boiling quantity low
  • Rice sticks easily to the bottom of the pot
  • Difficult to clean

360° View

Cheap rice cooker for smaller quantities, unfortunately with a few shortcomings.

The device

The Tristar rice cooker comes in a simple illustrated box.

Nevertheless, the first impression of the frame is of relatively high quality. This rice cooker also has a lid, an inner pot, a measuring cup, a rice spoon, and a power cord.

In addition, a small operating manual is included, which was written in German and twelve other languages. This is written in detail and also contains some small pictures for illustration.

The rice cooker is very easy to use. All you have to do is adding water and rice to the pot, and due to the automatic switch-off and the burn protection, you don't have to worry about anything more.

As soon as the rice is cooked, the appliance automatically switches to keep it warm. The temperature of the pot then remains constant at 70 to 75°C, so that you can still enjoy the rice up to an hour later.

Included in the scope of delivery:

  • Inner pot
  • Measuring jug
  • Spatula
  • Power cords
  • Instruction manual

The application

The handling of the rice cooker is very simple.

First, you have to measure the desired amount of rice (in this case 500 g jasmine rice) with the help of the supplied measuring cup, here there were four measuring cups filled up to the top. If you use rice that has to be washed before, you should do so.

Next, pour the rice into the inner bowl of the cooker and add cold water to the level mark.

If you prefer the rice a little softer, you should add a little more water and if you want it a little firmer, you should add a little less.

Then put the lid on the pot, connect the cable to the power supply, switch on the appliance and move the front control lever to the COOKING position. Then the control lamp should light up red.

This is also explained in detail and comprehensibly in the enclosed operating instructions.

It takes 13 minutes for the 500 g rice to boil. After 5 minutes of cooking it starts to smell very nicely of fresh rice.

After a total of 25 minutes, the rice is ready to cook and automatically switches to HOT.

You can now carefully lift the lid and let the condensation drip into the rice cooker. Here you should be a little careful because the lid is still very warm and you could burn yourself easily.

The temperature at the edge of the lid is 91.8°C after the rice is cooked and 55.2°C at the rack.

With the included rice spoon you can carefully loosen the rice. However, it is noticeable that some rice grains are difficult to remove from the bottom of the pot.

If you don't want to eat the rice immediately, you should put the lid back on and you can still enjoy it warm for up to an hour afterwards according to the instructions in the operating instructions.

In the beginning, the rice was still very hot and one had to let it cool for some minutes, but it tasted very good and had a pleasant consistency.

Before cleaning the pot, wait until the appliance has cooled down completely and make sure that the power cord has been removed.

You should only clean the frame with a damp cloth and avoid using aggressive cleaning agents for the pot. It should also be mentioned that the rice cooker should never be immersed in water and that it is also not dishwasher safe.

When the pot had cooled down completely after about 10 minutes and the leftovers were filled into another box, it was very difficult to clean the pot.

Overview: Rice Cooker

How do you like this product?

Could you explain to me what the left measurement chart inside the bowl means? The right one is clear, the amount of water used for the number of cups. But the left one is about liters which makes no sense. I don’t need it use the finger method, but I can’t figure out what it means. Thanks a lot, Arno
Hey Arno, these are simply different representations of the measurement units.
