The Tefal - P2530738 Secure 5 Neo Pressure cooker is very easy to handle and can be closed easily, whilst the self-locking lid ensures good safety.
In general, the pot cooks quickly and reliably and has almost no danger zones.
The module that allows you to control the pressure in the pot is helpful and also easy to use and clean. A disadvantage is that the cooking display is so poorly visible.
The Tefal - P2530738 Secure 5 Neo pressure cooker is packed in an attractive, functionally illustrated package. This set includes an accessory for steam cooking and an instruction manual.
The operating instructions describe in detail how to handle the pot and also recommend a cooking or steaming time for various types of meat, fish and vegetables.
Basically the pot is easy to handle. Opening the pot is not a problem and closing is quick and the mechanism locks in quickly. As soon as the pot is correctly positioned, a small lever jumps forward to prevent the pot from opening again.
A built-in module which is divided into two different areas releases the steam and thus also the pressure. The two areas are marked with symbols for vegetables and meat and offer the possibility to regulate the pressure in the pot.
On the level with the dot the module can be removed. Make sure that this area is always clean and free of food leftovers, otherwise the pressure will not be released properly. The steam symbol indicates the position where the steam can be drained.
A small cooking indicator is in the handle, but not very visible.
Potatoes: The pot contains one litre of salted water and about 750 g of potatoes.
The stove is set to full heat and after about 8 to 9 minutes the water boils. But you can only guess it by the sound and not see it in the pot. Small drops of water form at the module and steam, which is barely visible, escapes. The module is set to "Vegetables".
Then the heat is turned down to about 5 and the steam is reduced. In contrast to other test devices, you can't see how high the pressure inside the module is at an emerging rod.
After another 8 to 9 minutes the stove is switched off and the pressure is released via the module. The steam hisses upwards, you should not bend over the pot and the module, because it is very hot there. The steam has no large water droplets and it does not take long until the pressure is balanced. The lid can be opened easily afterwards. On the underside there are normal water droplets and the lid is fogged up.
For the goulash, the pork and beef are first fried and then cooked in the sauce prepared around them for approx. 20 minutes at medium pressure. The result is perfect and went quickly.
The pressure that is released behaves in the same way as with the potatoes.
The cleaning is very easy and can be done easily by hand. The pot and the inserts are also dishwasher safe.
In addition, special care should be taken with the module and seals to keep wear and tear to a minimum and to avoid the risk of clogged valves during the next use.
