The TecTake ice cube machine - with few functions, but a simple application - that serves its purpose and produces ice cubes.
The TecTake ice cube machine looks well made and has a simple, modern look.
It has a small LED light which flashes in stand-by mode and lights up continuously in operating mode. Further LED lights to act as a display for (1) selected ice cube size, (2) ice basket full indicator, (3) low water indicator.
The machine has a total of 2 functions, which are displayed in English and can be easily operated: (1) On/Off switch and (2) Select button for ice cube sizes. The ice cubes can be produced in 2 sizes (small/large).
Although the water capacity is indicated as 1.7 litres, a total of 2.3 litres fit into the water tank. The maximum water capacity of the tank is indicated by a clearly visible mark ("max").
Before you put the ice cube machine into operation, you should clean it by hand inside and let the water drain off through the water drain on the underside. The opening below the unit is a bit inconvenient to reach, but at the same time guarantees the complete emptying of the water tank.
We tested the machine for about 5 hours for ice cube production and chose the small size. In the beginning, only a few extremely small cubes are produced (we produce 5 cubes). If you don't take them out immediately, they will melt in the container, because the device doesn't seem to have a cooling function.
The machine needs some time to start and produces larger ice cubes in larger quantities (9 cubes) from the 4th pass on. After the 4th batch, the small ice cubes are almost as big as the middle ice cubes of other machines tested by us.
So that the ice cubes remain and do not melt in the container of the machine, they can be stored in the freezer compartment. However, in our test the ice cubes were damp and stuck together after about 3 hours.
As soon as the water tank is empty, the machine switches off automatically.
During operation, you can hear the ventilation, which is relatively quiet with max. 64 dB. The ice cube production then becomes louder, which is however practical, since one is informed thereby about the finished production.
