The DeLonghi Dolce Gusto coffee capsule machine did not handle very well. The water supply must be stopped manually and the machine must not be left out of sight during use. Apart from that, it worked well.
The DeLonghi Dolce Gusto coffee capsule machine has a modern, organic design and is truly an eye-catching device in every kitchen.
The device is delivered without capsules, which must be purchased by the customer. It is equipped with a water tank with a capacity of 1.1 litres and can be filled with one capsule at a time. The capsule holder can be pulled out of the device. The device is equipped with a collecting grid for overswelling liquids, which can be adjusted to three different heights, depending on the cup size. The DeLonghi capsule coffee maker works with the Nescafe Dolce Gusto capsule system, which are available at the supermarket.
The machine comes with a little bit of an undetailed operating instruction, which consists exclusively of pictures. However, the operation is quite simple and self-explanatory.
Before using the device for the first time, it must be cleaned once. Therefore the water tank must first be filled and then water must run through the machine in two runs. First turn on the device with the button at the bottom left of the machine. At the beginning it lights red. If it changes to green, the machine has heated up. This takes about 30 seconds. There is already a plastic capsule in the capsule holder, which is only intended for cleaning, so you only have to close the device. Now you can start the device with a slide switch. For this you push it once to the left (blue) and let cold water run through once and then once to the right (red) and let hot water run through once. It must be noted that the water process does not stop by itself, the slider must be pushed by yourself back to the middle to stop the water flowing. The instructions indicate that you should push the controller back after 60 seconds. However, if you wait that long, the water will overflow. Now the machine is cleaned and ready for your first coffee.
For your first coffee you have to refill the water tank and remove the plastic capsule from the holder and insert your coffee capsule. When the machine is closed and your coffee cup is in position, start the machine with the slider. The instructions only tell you how much water you need for the different types of coffee, but not how long you have to keep the machine running. Since you cannot adjust the quantity on the machine, you have to calculate it intuitively. This is a big disadvantage compared to the other machines, because you have to stay next to the machine. During use it comes to a volume of 59 dBA. After use, the device automatically switches to stand-by mode after 4:50 minutes.
The cleaning of the device must be done by hand, because apart from the capsule holder, no single parts are dishwasher safe according to the instructions. All individual parts should be removed and cleaned once and all surfaces can be wiped well with a towel. Then, as already described in the preparation section, let only water run through the machine once more. In addition, the machine must be descaled regularly, this is signalled to you by the machine as soon as the switch on button lights orange.
