The Bestron Cakepop-Maker is a practical device that not only makes cake pops but also cupcakes and donuts. The baking trays can be exchanged quickly and easily. The result is also impressive. However, the cake pops usually only turn brown from one side, unless you turn them yourself after a few minutes. During the whole use, a lot of smoke came out of the device and it always smelled slightly burned.
The Cakepop-Maker von Bestron ensures a high-quality visual effect at first sight. The device comes in a vintage cake pop maker design. Especially striking is the turquoise metal case. In contrast to the other cake pop makers, this one convinces with the 3-1 function. This means that this device can bake donuts and cupcakes as well as cake pops.
In the scope of supply are:
- Instruction manual
- 3 different baking trays
- Cake pop sticks
The operation of this device is self-explanatory as with the other devices. As with the other cake pop makers, you should clean the baking surface with a damp cloth before using it for the first time. Already during unpacking, you noticed that the Cake Pop Maker smells unpleasant. After cleaning, the device needs about 10 minutes to warm up, which is very long compared to the tested Cake Pop Makers. During the warm-up, the device starts to smoke a lot. That this can happen, however, is also noted in the operating instructions and, according to the manufacturer, only occurs during the first few rounds.
As soon as the green control light stops flashing, the optimum temperature has been reached and you can start pouring the dough into the moulds.
The following recipe was used for this test:
- 100 g butter
- 100 g sugar
- 100 g flour
- 4 g vanilla sugar
- 2 eggs
The cake pops take about 4-6 minutes to brown. It is recommended to turn the cake pops once after 4 minutes so that they get an even tan. There was an unpleasant, slightly burnt smell in the room throughout the baking time.
The result of the cake pops is ok. During the first rounds, the balls were not turned over after 4 minutes. This means that they were not baked properly and only browned on one side.
After use, it takes about 35 minutes until the Cake Pop Maker has cooled down.
The 3 baking trays are dishwasher safe. The appliance or housing should be cleaned with a damp cloth.
