Bakes a very good bread with crust in quite a short time, but without a viewing window and an individual program.

In summary, the Panasonic - SD-ZD2010 bakes very good bread and prepares dough well. With 18 programs the machine offers a lot of choices. Especially for people who prefer a crispy crust, this machine could become a favourite. Somewhat disturbing is the wobbly lid holder. Also, the missing viewing window is a bit impractical.
The bread baking machine Panasonic - Bread Baking Machine SD-ZD2010 is specialized for a particularly thick bread crust.
Handling and function
With a filling capacity of approx. 2.5 litres, the breadmaker is in the middle range of our test. The bread size can be chosen between M and L, which corresponds to about 500g to 700g. The baking mould is easy to fill and can be inserted into the automatic bread maker and taken out again by turning it.
The control panel is easy to understand and intuitive to use. On the control panel, the program button, which is located to the left of the display, can be used to set one of the 18 programs, which can be found in the instructions. Most of the programs can be individually adjusted, e.g. bread size or browning. The remaining time is shown on the right.
Further keys are located under the display. From left to right are the settings for the bread size (M and L), the degree of browning (Medium and Light) and the timer setting of up to 13 hours. On the far right are the start and stop buttons. All buttons are sealed and are not sensitive to deposits.
The display shows at all times what is happening inside.
Each time a button is pressed, a beep sounds. Unfortunately this cannot be switched off manually. You will also hear a beep when the dough is ready to add more ingredients or when the program has finished.
Crusty Bread, Crusty Bread with Raisins, Crispy Gourmet Bread, Whole Grain Crusty Bread, Whole Grain Crusty Bread with Raisins, Crispy Fitness Bread, White Bread, White Bread Fast, White Bread with Raisins, White Bread Fast with Raisins, Brioche, Baking Only, Gluten-Free Bread, Baking Gluten Free Cake, Baking Bread Dough, Making Pizza Dough, Making Jam
Raisins can also be replaced by other ingredients, such as onions or pieces of ham. In these programs, a sound is emitted that prompts you to add more ingredients, as there is no compartment for them, which you fill and then opens automatically. The ingredient size is indicated in the respective program.
With the bread maker, you can prepare not only different types of bread, but also dough for bread, pizza and cakes, and jam.
The memory function allows you to stop the baking process for a few minutes (e.g. in case of a power failure) without having to restart the machine. After a power failure, a symbol appears on the display to indicate this. The process is simply continued. When the program is finished, the beep sounds 8 times at minute intervals. If you press Stop, the beeping stops and the heat is well kept inside the machine, but there is no keep-warm function.
During baking and resting, the machine is soundless. When stirring, the noise level is approx. 53dB and is not disturbing. When the appliance is baking, the casing becomes about 58°C hot and care should be taken especially at openings.
The result of the baking mix in our test in darker mode (medium) turned out evenly browned as desired. The crust is crispy and even.
The duration was 2 hours in program 9 for fast white bread. The dough was well kneaded, had rest periods and rose well. The bread tastes very good and can be easily removed from the mould. The dough hook did not remain in the bread.
The pizza dough is also well done. All ingredients were kneaded to a smooth dough within 45 minutes. While the dough is in the machine, it is kneaded, warmed up and rest periods are also included. The resulting pizza rolls have turned out very well.
The baking tin and the dough hook are unfortunately not dishwasher safe. Only measuring cups and spoons may be put in the dishwasher. The baking pan is easy to clean, as the bread and also the dough is completely dissolved. Strong and corrosive cleaning agents should be avoided in order not to damage the non-stick coating. The dough hook can be removed easily.
The medium-sized device is simply kept in black and silver. The only thing that is noticeable is that the lid is wobbling in its holder. The lid is lined on the inside with a reflective metal, which makes the crust of the bread special. The lid should only be handled with care on the inside, as scratches can easily occur.
The size of the display is sufficient. The display does not light up while you are operating it. There is no viewing window and no interior lighting. Lifting the lid to check the bread can damage the yeast and thus the quality of the dough.
Under the appliance, there are very large rubber stoppers (approx. 3cm in diameter), which ensure a safe stand. This is also necessary because the appliance shakes a lot while stirring.
The breadmaker has a good manual, from which the functions and handling can be quickly understood. It also provides some good tips on various problems. The table in which the individual programs are clearly listed and described is particularly practical. So you can quickly find the right program and the corresponding times and possibilities. Recipes for different types of bread are also included in the booklet.
