The WOLF Garten - Power Cut Telescopic Anvil Loppers is an easy to use loppers. The transmission is easy and saves power and the rubber handles provide a good grip. The telescopic arms help you to get the power transmission or to reach more distant branches. The anvil principle tempts the scissors to squeeze the branches and the bark is pressed a little. Otherwise, the cut is clean and smooth.
Overview of the
The WOLF Garten - Power Cut Telescopic Anvil Loppers has a simple label which gives brief information about the scissors. Small pictograms describe the maximum branch thickness, the translation power and the possibility to change the cutting edge.
The scissors fit well in the hand and the rubber coating with small pimples ensures a good grip even in wet conditions. With approx. 1.5 kg the scissors are not too heavy and you can work well with them.
These loppers have a kind of transmission (also called gear). The arms open wide, the power needed for cutting is distributed over a longer distance, which makes the work easier. When the arms are pressed together, the upper straight blade is placed on the anvil and there is no rubber stopper near the arm.
The blade can be replaced in case of wear and tear.
If you want to have the arms a little longer to increase the force effect, you can extend the arms via the telescopic mechanism. Up to 6 different levels are possible with these pruning shears. All you have to do is press the yellow toggle switch and then pull the respective arm. You can adjust the length of the arms independently. The arms then snap into place.
Application and cut
Hazelnut wood is softwood and therefore easy to cut. Thin branches up to approx. 2 cm are cut like butter, then a little more strength is required, but also about 3 cm are not yet a big hurdle. One can recognize light bruises from 3 cm thick.
Cherry wood is very solid wood, so there are problems with it. The thickness of approx. 3 cm has been a small challenge and you should extend the telescopic arms to increase the power. Thinner branches are easily cut with a strong cut.
In general, these branch shears from WOLF Garten cut very well and the power transmission is very pleasant, but you have to take care that these shears are rather intended for the rough cut because they are based on the anvil principle and crush the branches quickly and it can come to slight plant damage. Otherwise, the cut is clean and smooth.
