The Beginner beer brewing set from Bier Kwik is easy to use. The individual steps are well illustrated in the user manual. The manual contains different recipes for different types of beer. So you are free to choose which beer you want to brew. Unfortunately, the final product did not have the desired effect and looks more like a cider than a beer. You can feel the carbonic acid disappearing. Unfortunately, a reasonable whitecap has not formed. All in all a funny present, but with a result that cannot satisfy a beer lover.

The scope of delivery of the Beginner beer brewing set from Bier Kwik is in a plastic fermentation container. The instructions are written in German, illustrated and clearly understandable.

The beer wort extract is added to the fermentation tank.
For a beer according to kölscher Brauart you need 400 g of the beer wort concentrate.


First of all, attach the outlet tap in the hole provided in the fermenter. Then clean all utensils including the fermenter thoroughly. You can also test the density of the fermenter at the same time. If the fermenter does not close completely, you must carefully tighten the nut. After you have carefully considered the recipe of your choice, you can pour the appropriate amount of wort concentrate and sugar into the fermenter. We have decided on a beer brewed in the Cologne way. You will need 400 g of the beer wort concentrate and 400 g of sugar. Then pour 3 litres of boiling water into the fermentation tank. Now you have to stir well until the ingredients are completely dissolved. When the ingredients are completely dissolved, fill the fermenter up to the 10 l limit and stir vigorously once again. To start the fermentation process, pour 2-3 g yeast onto the surface of the brew. After waiting for 3 minutes, stir vigorously to ensure that the yeast is distributed evenly. Then place the lid loosely on the container so that the carbon dioxide that forms can escape.


Until the young beer is bottled, you must place the brew in a room at room temperature. The fermentation process takes 4-8 days in total. You can tell that the fermentation process is completed by the fact that no more foam is formed over the entire surface.


During secondary fermentation, sugar is added to the young beer, which is converted into alcohol and carbon dioxide by the yeast over time. First of all, we used the tap to pour the beer into swing stopper bottles and then we used a funnel to transport the sugar into the bottles. After the bottles were closed, we shook them vigorously once again so that everything was evenly distributed.


After you have bottled the beer, you store the beer at room temperature for 1-2 weeks to complete the secondary fermentation. Optionally, you can let the beer mature even longer to let the taste develop even more. The optimum taste is only reached after 2-3 months.

Particularly noticeable in the taste of the beer are the light apple note and the initially sweet taste. In the finish, however, a tart note dominates. At the beginning, you have the feeling that the beer is extremely carbonated. After a while, the carbonation disappears in no time at all, as no reasonable head has formed, and the beer quickly becomes stale.


The formation of the whitecap is very weak. As weakly as the crown forms, it disappears as quickly.
