The Remington offers many functions, such as the key lock function, memory function or transport lock. However, the quality is rather satisfactory compared to the other tested devices. The device is very slippery in the hand and during straightening the smaller hair strands remain partly between the plates. If the hair is thicker, the strand must be stroked several times to make it smooth. Overall, this straightener does not straighten the hair sufficiently.
This Remington smoothing iron comes in a typical smoothing iron design, but in a more unusual (light pink) colour. It has a display and an On/Off button, as well as two buttons to regulate the temperature.

The first impression of quality is satisfactory. Compared to other tested products, this hair straightener feels very light and a little unstable. You can hold it well, but it's also very slippery in the hand.
This hair straightener heats up very quickly (approx. 15 seconds). Depending on the type of hair you have, you should follow these guidelines:
1. thin/fine, stressed or lightened hair -> 150 °C to 170 °C
2. normal, healthy hair -> 180 °C to 200 °C
3. strong, very curly and difficult to tame hair -> 210 °C to 230 °C
Thick and wavy hair was used for this test.
The display with the selected temperature flashes until the desired temperature is reached.
During the procedure it was noticed that you have to go over the hair strands several times with a straightening iron (approx. 4/5 times) until you really get a good result. Due to the smooth coating, the smoothing iron almost slips out of your hand, especially if you want to style shafts with this device and therefore have to turn it. Furthermore, it was noticed that some hair gets stuck between the plates, which can not only be painful, but can also lead to hair loss. This device is better suited for thinner hair.
The hair straightener should cool down before cleaning with a damp cloth. Under no circumstances should aggressive cleaning agents or solvents be used.
