A fitness watch that can convince with many innovative functions.

In September 2019, Garmin presented its latest model at the International Radio Fair in Berlin: The new fitness watch Garmin Venu. The watch comes in a small, handy package containing the most important product information (in English). The first impression of this fitness watch is very good. It looks very stable and of high quality. Compared to other fitness watches, this Garmin Venue has a very wide display (1.2-inch screen, 43 mm diameter, 12 mm height, 2.4 mm wide edge). The glass is made of gorilla glass 3. The watch is available in 3 different colours. In our test, we chose the model in black. The corresponding 20 mm Qickrelease bracelet (interchangeable) has a total length of 24 cm. Furthermore, the watch is waterproof and has various sensors, such as motion sensors, optical sensors for heart rate measurement, GPS sensor for positioning, a barometer for altitude measurement, pulse oximeter and thermometer.

Included in delivery:

The new Garmin model has many similarities with similar fitness watches like the Vivoactive 4, but what distinguishes the Garmin Venue is the new display technology. Many traditional sports watches use "Memory in Pixel", but the Garmin Venue has an AMOLED screen. A novelty among fitness watches, with which all information is displayed with significantly more pixels (390x390) and everything is still legible even in dark light.

The Garmin Venu is also operated via the touchscreen. With the help of two buttons, both located on the right side of the watch case, you can adjust the clock. In order to operate the clock, you should first download the free Garmin Conect app from the AppStore or GooglePlayStore.

The Fitbit app first needs access to some personal data in order to be used correctly. Before purchasing, everyone should be aware that the transfer of data is unavoidable. Otherwise, they cannot be processed and therefore no conclusions can be drawn about your health.

This is followed by very good instructions to help you set up your watch. Once the app has been set up and synchronised with the watch, you can create it and use its functions.

The measured data is very accurate and easy to evaluate.

This watch offers numerous functions. Once you have downloaded the app and want to operate the clock, click on the upper right button for a few seconds. Then the fitness watch switches on. If you click on the upper right button again, you will immediately be taken to the selection of sports profiles (20). The following sports profiles are included: Treadmill, indoor swimming pool, cycling, indoor cycling, walking, indoor walking, climbing stairs, swimming pool. Playing golf, skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, SUP, strength training, cardio, yoga, Pilates, breath work, crosstraining, stepper, rowing, indoor rowing, martial arts. This list can be extended individually.

A special feature are the more than 40 animated videos that can be seen on the display of the watch (for strength training, yoga, cardio, Pilates). During the workouts, the display shows small animations of how to perform each exercise. At the same time, a counter or countdown informs about the progress of the exercise. However, during the sports exercises, especially Pilates and Yoga, it was noticed that not all exercises have animated videos. For the exercises, where animated videos are available, it is a supportive tool for the user. During the exercises, it also happened once or twice that the touch screen stopped briefly, which should not happen with a new model like the Garmin Venue.

In addition, the watch surprises with other additional functions such as the determination of breathing rate, as well as logging of the female cycle, an emergency function, measurement of blood oxygen supply and the Garmin Sport Coaches in the app. The "Garmin Pay" service even allows contactless payment at the checkout.

Listening to music with the Garmin Venue is also possible with Bluetooth headphones. This fitness watch can be used to listen to music while running, for example. The watch can also be connected to music services such as Deezer or Spotify. This watch can also be connected to wireless headphones so that you can listen to music during a workout without a smartphone.
